Summer Assessment 2020

Please note the end-of-year assessment arrangements for 1st, 2nd and 5th Years which are detailed below.

1st Year

All 1st Year students will receive an end-of-year assessment in each exam subject. The assessment will be no longer than 1.5 hours. The assessment paper will be available to students from 9am on the day of the exam (see timetable below) via the Teams app and must be completed and returned by noon on the following day.

Some assessments will be completed via Microsoft Forms while others will be completed in the student's copy. Where an assessment is handwritten, the students should photograph it and return it to the teacher within the time allowed.

1st Year assessments will begin on the 13th May 2020.

2nd Year

2nd Year Students will have completed a Classroom Based Assessment (CBA) in many subjects at this stage. Each CBA will graded by the teacher and a mark and/or descriptor recorded on the student's summer report. CBAs are an integral part of the Junior Cycle examination and it is important that students complete these assessments as required by their teachers. CBAs may be used as part of an overall school assessment in the future should the COVID-19 emergency continue into the next academic year.

Where the student has not been required to complete a CBA in a subject, they will recieve an end-of-year assessment in that subject. The assessment will be no longer than 2 hours.

2nd Year assessments will begin on the 13th May 2020.

5th Year

All 5th Year students will receive an end-of-year assessment in each exam subject. The assessment will be no longer than 2.5 hours.

We have made every attempt to ensure that students do not sit more than one examination per day but due to the number of optional subjects available to our students this has not always been possible.

It is particularly important that all our 5th Year students participate in these examinations as these results may form part of an overall school assessment in the future should the COVID-19 emergency conitinue into the next school year.

5th Year assessments will begin on the 13th May 2020.
